Ladies of Hamilton & Erin's Faces

In light of the Tonys happening this past weekend I am thrilled to share pictures of all of the women in the Broadway cast of Hamilton: An American Musical who all use our Mineral Foundation and Mineral Concealer (and most use our Aloe Setting Powder as well!).  I thought it would be SUPER fun to show their selfies wearing our product to demonstrate how the colors read on different people and the Hamilton cast was the perfect group since they cover almost every shade!  And they’re remarkably talented so there’s that :). First the short version:

Whether playing Angelica Schuyler or leading her Fearless Squad, Mandy Gonzalez is a perfect match for our Cream Beige Mineral Foundation and Light Mineral Concealer.  

Lexi Lawson (left) plays Hamilton's wife, Eliza, and obviously brings joy to whatever she does!  She wears our foundation in Almond and concealer in Medium set with our Aloe Setting Powder.  

In the midst of seducing Hamilton as Maria Reynolds, and playing the perky little sister Peggy Schuyler, Joanna Jones (right) throws on our foundation in Almond, concealer in Warm Honey and our Aloe Setting Powder.  

Can you imagine learning all three lead tracks and being able to perform them at the drop of a hat?  That's what Jennie Harney does as the Universal Standby for the Schuyler sisters and she looks fab doing it in our Natural Beige foundation, Warm Honey concealer and Aloe Setting Powder :)!

Natural beauty Eliza Ohman is the Co-Dance Captain and a swing who headed up figuring out who was what shade with all of our foundations for the group.  Eliza is our lightest shade in our Mineral Foundation – Linen – and is also wearing our Mineral Concealer in Light and our Aloe Setting Powder. 

  

Decked out in costume *yes please*  Sasha Iman wears our Mineral Foundation in Sandy Beige and Mineral Concealer in Warm Honey.  To keep everything in place from start to finish in her ensemble track Sasha uses our Aloe Setting Powder.

That skin and those cute bows!  Lauren Boyd is in the ensemble and also an understudy for Peggy.  Lauren is wearing our Mineral Foundation in Pale Beige and our Mineral Concealer in Medium.

I always think it’s fun when Erins use our line as everything is personalized just for them at all times J.  And Erin Clemmons is just joy on a stick in her Mineral Foundation in Sandy Beige and Mineral Concealer in Warm Honey.  She sets it all with our Aloe Setting Powder when she’s in the ensemble OR when she’s understudying the role of Angelica.

Karla Puno Garcia is an amazing dancer (go check her videos out on her Instagram!) who wears our Mineral Foundation in Honey Bronze and our Mineral Concealer in Warm Honey.  She also uses our Aloe Setting Powder which makes me so happy as it shows that it can work on all different skintones – just use a little bit and buff it in if you get too much. 

Understudying Angelica when she's not in the ensemble Elizabeth Judd wears our foundation in Almond and concealer in Warm Honey.

Wearing our foundation in Almond, Tanairi Sade Vazquez brightens up the undereye area with our Mineral Concealer in Light/Medium while she looks fierce every night in the ensemble.

Christina Glur is a beautiful dancer and a swing in Hamilton.  She’s wearing our Mineral Foundation in Tender Beige that she set with our Aloe Setting Powder.

Ensemble member Lexi Garcia is super cute in our Linen Mineral Foundation and Light Mineral Concealer.

New Mineral Makeup Shades For Spring!

I love new makeup colors, don't you?  I have been waiting a LONG time to launch these little guys so I'm really excited to share them - here's the breakdown:

FAIRY DUST ($18)

My loose powder Magic Dust has been a top seller in the color category but it was a little much for some  folks who wanted to look a little more natural.  I went through countless samples of colors until I finally settled on this one - and it was love at first sight!  While Magic Dust is a warm soft gold, Fairy Dust is a cool champagne that reads as less "makeup-y" if that makes sense.  Every time I wear it I get complimented on my skin - it looks healthy and dewy - I LOVE Fairy Dust!  

FAIR TRADE TINTED LIP BALM IN BLUSHED ($6.50)

You guys were big fans of the berry shade, Flushed, this past winter so I wanted to bring a softer color and settled on Blushed - it's a super duper sheer pink (think of pink quartz - it looks like that) with a slight shimmer.  It is Fair Trade Certified and packed with Organic ingredients and has the same Vanilla-Mint flavor that Flushed does.  It's perfect with mascara for the carpool or paired with a smoky eye for a soft lip.

MINERAL LIP GLOSSES IN FRESH NUDE & PLEASANT PINK ($20)

I am over the moon about this!!  These are the first new Mineral Lip Gloss colors in three years and I think you're going to love them!  

Pleasant Pink on top, Fresh Nude on bottom

Fresh Nude is the perfect pinky brown neutral shade and Pleasant Pink is a strawberry/watermelon shade.  Neither have shimmer and both have a Vanilla Bean flavor.

They also are petrochemical-free (hard to find in a lipgloss!) and paraben-free.

TRAVEL SIZED MICELLAR WATER CLEANSING MAKEUP REMOVER ($11.50)

The response with the new Micellar Water Cleansing Makeup Remover has been so positive but I just went on a trip and wanted a smaller size and thought you guys could use a 2 oz. version as well.  It's still petrochemical and fragrance-free, dries clean with no residue and removes makeup like a dream.

Holly Golightly Mother-Daughter Halloween Costumes

When I was mapping out the looks for the AC Lens Halloween shoot I was doing I knew they wanted a look that incorporated sunglasses into a costume.  I wanted something that would be more imaginative than a beachy type of look and was so excited when the concept of Audrey Hepburn's character of Holly Golightly from "Breakfast at Tiffany's" came to me.  I thought it would be even cuter if we made it a mother-daughter situation and we had the perfect models in Jenny and Klara - here's what we used for mom -

It's THE easiest makeup ever as you get to skip your eyes completely - we just did some

Foundation (Mineral Sheer Tint in Cream Beige - Erin's Faces)

Powder (Aloe Setting Powder - Erin's Faces)

Blush (Mineral Blush in Rose - Erin's Faces)

Lipstick (Tea Rose - Erin's Faces)

Klara wore this dress, Jenny wore her own and both ladies wore this tiara.  I got the pearls (which we taped to be the right length) and gloves at Party City.

Then the ladies threw on sunnies (Fantas Eyes Niagra (adult) and Zoobug ZB (child) - AC Lens) and channeled their inner Audreys :).

Vampire Makeup Tutorial

I love a vampire and had fun figuring out what I wanted the makeup to look like on this one.  It looked really good but I have to tell you that those colored contacts from AC Lens take it to the total next level - it was nuts!  Here's what we used -

EYES:

Put in your red lenses in (Angelic Red - AC Lens) - we put them in after and I rec doing it first

Apply primer to eyelids (Brightening Eyeshadow Primer - Erin’s Faces)

Heather still had her Khaleesi braids in :)

Apply matte black shadow all over lid and bring almost to brow but leave a sliver of space for skintone to show through right under brow (Night Mineral Shadow – Erin’s Faces)

On the outer corner, on top of the black, pop a matte navy (Navy Mineral Shadow – Erin’s Faces) and on the inner half of the eye apply an eggplant shade on top of the black (Plum Mineral Shadow – Erin’s Faces)

Run the black shadow (Night) under the eye as a liner and soften with a fluffier brush so the line isn’t harsh.  Pull a little Navy in on the outer corner.

Line lower waterline and tightline with waterproof black eyeliner (Onyx Cream Eyeliner – Erin’s Faces)

Black mascara on top and bottom lashes (Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara)

Apply feathery long false lashes (Alcone Lash #315)

Deepen brows with a deep matte gray/soft black shadow/pencil (Twilight Mineral Shadow – Erin’s Faces)

FACE:

Apply a pale foundation shade all over the face (Death Flesh Crème Foundation – Ben Nye)

Apply concealer and powder (Light Mineral Concealer & Aloe Powder – Erin’s Faces)

Use gray shadows to contour cheeks (Dove & Twilight Mineral Eyeshadows – Erin’s Faces)

Apply loose white shimmer to cheekbones/browbone (Ice Lumiere Luxe Powder – Ben Nye)

LIPS:

Line lips with black eyeliner pencil and smudge so the line isn’t sharp (Baby’s Got Black Kohl Crayons for Eyes – Wet N’ Wild)

Fill in lips with wine lipstick shade or do what we did which was take red lipstick and mix a little brown eyeshadow in to it to make the perfect shade (Red Satin Lipstick & Espresso Mineral Shadow – Erin’s Faces)

Apply fake fangs to teeth (Scarecrow Deluxe Vampire Fangs) and I got the lace top here.

Alex Vause - Orange is the New Black - Makeup Tutorial and Costume Breakdown

When we were doing the Halloween shoot for AC Lens we wanted to show an easy way to incorporate glasses into a costume and Alex Vouse seemed like a timely fit (sidenote - there's an odd amount of Velma's from Scooby Doo being rec'ed for girls with glasses and I wanted to do something more edgy).  Her makeup is actually really soft and pretty with an awesome wing (I was going after replicating this look) and would be pretty with or without glasses so give it a gander -

EYES:

Apply primer to eyelids (Brightening Eyeshadow Primer - Erin’s Faces)

Apply cream colored matte shadow to lid (Cream Mineral Shadow - Erin’s Faces), a matte milk chocolate shade in crease (Earth Mineral Shadow  - Erin’s Faces) and a matte ivory under the brow (Ivory Mineral Shadow – Erin’s Faces)

Use a black liquid liner or gel eyeliner (Onyx Cream Eyeliner – Erin’s Faces) along the lashline and draw a medium thick line and extend the wing out at the edges as much as you like

Black mascara top and bottom (Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara)

Fill in brows and round out/extend (Espresso Mineral Shadow – Erin’s Faces)

FACE:

Foundation/concealer/powder (Erin’s Faces Mineral Foundation (Porcelain)/Mineral Concealer (Light/Medium)/Aloe Powder)

CHEEKS:

Contour cheekbone a LOT with matte bronzer (Sunkissed Mineral Bronzer – Erin’s Faces)

Soft application of matte brown blush that has a hit of pink on outer apples (Calla Mineral Blush – Erin’s Faces)

Soft glowy highlighter along cheekbones/browbones – not too shimmery and not too silver (Brightening Pen in Champagne – Erin’s Faces)

LIPS:

Apply a natural pinky/brown lipstick shade (Mocha Satin Lipstick – Erin’s Faces)

We got this tattoo to put on Emily's arm and grabbed this khaki scrubs top to match the prison uniforms.

Put on your John Lennon Winston black framed glasses from AC Lens and rock it!

Daenerys Targaryen / Khaleesi Makeup Tutorial

Is there anyone who doesn't want to be Khaleesi when they grow up?  She is my, and millions of other people's, favorite character from Game of Thrones and was a super fun makeup job.  It worked into the AC Lens Halloween Shoot because all of the Targaryens in the books have violet eyes.  Apparently they had the actors wear violet contacts during the first season but they ended up ditching them after that - we went by the book and added them for this shoot and they made the look beautiful and other worldly.  Here's what we used:

EYES:

Put in violet/purple contact lenses contacts (Night Vixen - AC Lens)
Apply primer to eyelids (Brightening Eyeshadow Primer - Erin’s Faces)

Use a matte ivory shade under the brow, a terra cotta shade all over the lid (and under eye as liner) and a mix of soft matte brown and cream shadows in the crease to blend it all together (Ivory Mineral Shadow, Calla Mineral Blush and mix of Earth and Cream Mineral Shadows – Erin’s Faces)

Black mascara top and bottom (Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara)

Bump brows up a shade or two color wise so they are deep (Earth Mineral Shadow – Erin’s Faces)
